my darling son, william, almost 6, has worn his arfie hat for nearly 4 years now. it is a black and white fleece hat/hood with dog ears. he has always loved being a dog. he actually learned how to bark before he could talk.
i have been trying to come up with an idea to create and sell... he was wearing his arfie hat/hood at the grocery store last month. he would greet everyone he came in contact with with an "arf" and a smile! he brought a lot of smiles and sunshine to everyone he met.
well, so much with coming up with a new idea, the winner was right in front of me! on our way home, i talked with william about the idea of making more of his "arfie" hats and selling them. he said "mommy, it is called the arfie company dot com." "we can make hats and clothing to match." then we discussed what other animals should we make... as soon as we could, we went fabric shopping. he chose the fabrics!! i helped a bit!
we have made samples and are ready to start selling! pictures coming soon!!
oh by the way, he told me that he was the president and i was going to work for him!!
he gets $1.00 of every sale to go towards his college fund and $1.00 of every sale to go towards the vacation of his dreams, disneyland.
this is just the beginning. william is very involved with this project!
we spent our labor day vacation making samples... we had a blast. now in our zoo are bears, dogs, cats, frogs, roosters, dragons and dinosaurs... we are in the design stage of creating the laurel squirrel.
while i was watching play after school yesterday, it dawned on me... oh my goodness, what a great school fundraiser!! we set up our shopping site, parents can shop, and a percent of sales goes to their kid's school. that was the missing link. a purpose, an audience, and a product. a triple win!! i quickly sent off a note to the laurel's business alliance team. yes! was the answer i received back just a few minutes ago. more to come...
this is just the beginning.
so, i quickly am thinking that i need another mom who can contact other schools and set up additional fundraising partners. anyone interested??
